“March 1968, remembered by those who stayed”
Panel discussion with members of the Krakow Jewish community
Led by dr. Edyta Gawron

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the events that transpired in Poland in March 1968. As a result of the anti-Semitic campaign waged in the country at the time, thousands of Polish Jews had to emigrate. However, contrary to popular belief, not all Jews left Poland back then. Those who stayed had to find a way to adapt to the new situation: their friends, acquaintances, and family members had left, many Jewish institutions were closed down, and Jewish life was, in fact, pushed "underground." What memories do they have about those trying times? What was Jewish life like in Poland after March 1968? How do they get involved in the life of the Jewish community today?

At this meeting, you will have the unique opportunity to hear eyewitness accounts of the events of March 1968 and meet those members of our community who chose to stay in the country following those events.

In Polish. Free admission.
