judyta - netJudith decided to save the Israeli city of Bethulia from the Assyrian army. Her beauty made Holofernes, the leader of the Assyrians, fall in love with Judith. At night, after a great feast, she cut his head off and returned to Bethulia carrying it in a basket. The head was hung on the city walls, frightening the Assyrian army, which fled in fear but was caught and defeated by the Israeli army.
