Recital "Ziarno pokoju"

16:00 h
09 Jul

recital A4In 1944, a ten-year-old girl named Eva Mozes Kor was shipped to Auschwitz concentration camp along with the rest of her family and their entire village. Seventy-one years later, violinist Ariel Horowitz met with Eva at her house museum in Terre Haute, Indiana. Eva expressed to Ariel her deepest wish to hear music performed at Auschwitz, where the fates of over one million Jews and members of other ethnic groups targeted by the Nazis were decided during World War II.

Inspired by Eva’s life’s work, ARIEL HOROWITZ and double bass player SEBASTIAN ZINCA created a musical offering, seeking to commemorate the tragedies that took place during the Holocaust while acknowledging the healing power of forgiveness. Their composition, Seed for Peace (2017), written especially for the occasion of the concert in Auschwitz, is based on the music of the Jewish and Romani cultures. The duo will present this program at different venues across Europe. Ariel and Sebastian’s dream is to share and spread Eva’s message and mission through the medium of music as widely as possible.

Sebastian Zinca - double bass
Ariel Horowitz - violin
